Kevin Smith, CPA

Principal

Kevin’s passion is to work with small businesses, the entrepreneur that run them, and their families to ensure they are prepared and can navigate a world of constant change. Kevin recognizes that we live in a world of constant technological disruption and political change, impacting small businesses and their families.  His passion involves helping leverage technology while keeping a personal touch, to allow his clients to spend more time working on their area of genius – the businesses they run and the families they cherish – rather than worrying about the tax and accounting aspects of their businesses.

An experienced CPA, Kevin has worked in public accounting for over 12 years advising clients in accounting, business and tax consulting. Before joining TranerSmith in 2015, Kevin worked for Deloitte for 8 years between the Seattle & Cincinnati offices. He has advanced industry expertise working with businesses in the technology, real estate, construction, professional service and service-based industries.

Kevin graduated from Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington with a bachelor of arts in Accounting where he had the privilege of being a member of the baseball team (go Saints!). He is a member of the AICPA and Washington Society of CPAs. In the community Kevin is also active as a board member for the Seattle chapter of the Positive Coaching Alliance, a national non-profit with a mission to transform the culture of youth sports so that youth athletes can have a positive, character-building experience.

Kevin married his beautiful wife, Erin in 2015 and they have two children, Griffen & Garrett. Away from work, Kevin’s greatest joys come from spending time with family and friends. He is also an avid sports fan and can often be found rooting on the WSU Cougars, Seahawks, Mariners along with anxiously awaiting the new NHL Seattle franchise. When not consuming sports or spending time with family, he can be found enjoying a game golf in the summer or the ski slopes in the winter.
