Jim, in partnership with Ken, started TranerSmith in 1994. Jim has worked in the accounting industry for 45 years, both as a tax and small business advisory partner for an international accounting firm, and as a business advisor and tax specialist involving a variety of different industries with Traner Smith. In addition, Jim is a Quickbooks Pro Advisor providing controller services to clients using Quickbooks Online.

Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Washington. He is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the Washington Society of CPA’s. He has been involved in variety of community activities including Rotary where he has served in all board positions including President. He is also active in veterans’ organizations including serving as Commander of the Edmonds Veterans of Foreign Wars and serving in a variety of positions with the VFW at both the local and state level.

Jim is married and has two daughters, both graduates of the University of Washington. He is an outdoorsman and an avid fly fisherman in pursuit of Steelhead.
